CAPS

Graduates will wear their caps in the academic procession and throughout the ceremony.

TASSELS

At the beginning of the ceremony, Graduates should position their tassels to the right-front side of their cap. After the degrees have been conferred, GTCC President, Dr. Anthony Clarke, will ask all Graduates to reposition their tassels to the left-front side of their cap.

HONORS CORDS/TASSELS

Honor Cords/Tassels are earned in one of the following ways:

  • High School Equivalency graduates who have achieved a minimum combined score of 620 points on all four official GED tests or who have earned a minimum combined score of 75 points on all 5 HiSet tests.
  • Adult High School graduates who have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Honor graduates will wear a gold cord or tassel to designate their academic achievement. A representative from the program will have a definitive list of graduates who are eligible for the Honors designation during the Commencement lineup.

WHAT TO WEAR

Women should wear dark-colored dresses or slacks and dark-colored shoes with low- to medium-high heels.

Men should wear dark-colored pants and dark shoes.

No graduate should wear jeans or flip-flops for this very special occasion.

Unpack your gown a few days before graduation to allow the wrinkles to go away. Steam from the shower or an iron on a lukewarm setting will also help to remove any wrinkles.

GRADUATION LINEUP

Look for the Adult Education sign once you have entered the Coliseum. This is where you will check in and line up for the ceremony. The lineup will begin at 10 a.m. Staff will be at that location to assist you. It is very important to remain in your assigned location. The lineup should be completed at least 30 minutes before the actual ceremony begins – promptly at 11 a.m.

DIPLOMAS

Graduates will receive a blank diploma cover when they cross the stage.

GED, HiSet, and Multiple Pathways diplomas, transcripts, and verification requests are processed through DiplomaSender. Please contact Diploma Sender at DiplomaSender.com or 855-313-5799 for your transcript requests or queries regarding your transcripts or diplomas.
