Path To Success – New and Reapplying GTCC Students

1 Complete your NC Residency Determination.

  • Please visit www.ncresidency.org to complete the residency application process. When you finish the residency determination form, be sure to write down your assigned Residency Certification Number (RCN). You will need to enter your RCN on the GTCC admission application in step 2.

2 Complete GTCC's application for admission.

3 Apply for Financial Aid.

4 Submit official transcripts.

5 Satisfy placement test requirements.

6 Activate student account.

7 Complete Orientation.

  • Once you have activated your Student Account (Titan Account) in Step 6, complete the online Orientation.This is a short welcome and introduction to GTCC.

8 Sign up for First Advising.

  • In this session you will learn how to register for classes, receive information about resources that are available at GTCC, and work with a Student Success Coach to develop your college plan.
  • Your three advising options (Choose one):
    • First Advising online. If you need to complete First Advising, complete our online registration form and an online advisor will contact you within 24-48 hours. If no one has contacted you within that time frame, please send an email to orientation@gtcc.edu.
    • First Advising face-to-face group session. Please use SignUpGenius to schedule a day and time for a group appointment in the Sears Applied Technologies Building on the Jamestown Campus.
    • First Advising face-to-face walk-ins. Jamestown Campus: Sears Applied Technologies Building, Room 140. 601 East Main Street, Jamestown, NC, 27282. Greensboro Campus: CEC, Room 132. 3505 East Wendover Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405. High Point Campus: H1, Room 133. 901 S. Main Street High Point, NC, 27260.

9 Register for classes.

10 Pay for classes.

Path To Success – Visiting Student

Show prerequisites.

  • Visiting Students must show proof of prerequisites to register for a class. Examples may include:
    • Unofficial or official college transcripts showing a grade of C or better in prerequisite courses
    • SAT or ACT scores that meet prerequisite
    • High school transcript with appropriate unweighted GPA
    • Complete placement test
  • Please email admissions@gtcc.edu to determine what type of proof you will need for specific courses.
  • Students will be required to present proof of prerequisite to a member of the Student Success Center at time of registration.

4 Activate student account.

5 Register for classes.

6 Pay for classes.
