JAMESTOWN, N.C. (Sept. 19, 2024) – Dr. Richard Beavers, Hank Henning, and Brent Moore have been appointed to the Guilford Technical Community College’s board of trustees.

Beavers, a longtime Greensboro-area endodontist, was appointed by the N.C. State Senate, and Henning, who served on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners for almost a decade, was appointed by the N.C. House of Representatives. Moore was appointed by the Guilford County Board of Commissioners.

“We are fortunate to have Dr. Beavers and Mr. Henning join the GTCC board of trustees, and Mr. Moore back for another term,” said GTCC President, Anthony Clarke, Ph.D. “All three gentlemen have a long history of public service and understand the value of the college to our community. They will be knowledgeable and valuable additions to our board of trustees.”

Beavers, who retired from dentistry in 2020, is a native of Greensboro, who previously taught at GTCC in 1974-75, after graduating from Wake Forest University and spending four years in the U.S. Navy.

Beavers opened a private endodontics practice in Greensboro in 1983. He taught endodontics at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry from 1986-96 while continuing his private practice. He is a past president of the Guilford County Dental Society and of the Tar Heel Endodontic Association.

“After teaching here, it’s an honor to return to GTCC as a board of trustees member,” said Beavers. “It’s so wonderful to see how the college has grown through the years. I look forward to advocating for the college, faculty, staff, and students in the community and beyond by highlighting the great work being done here!”

Henning, who is the district manager for government and community relations for Duke Energy, was chairman of the Guilford County Board of Commissioners in 2015 after serving as the vice chairman in 2014.

Henning served in the U.S. Marines from April 2003 to April 2007 and had two tours of duty in Ramadi, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.

“It’s an honor to continue to serve Guilford County and GTCC with this appointment,” shared Henning. “As a former member of the GTCC Foundation board, I’m already impressed with how the college supports its faculty, staff, and students with many opportunities. Now, as a member of the board of trustees, I’m excited to assist the college with the support it provides to the blossoming workforce development opportunities here in the Piedmont Triad.”

A native of Michigan, Henning graduated from Michigan State University in 1997. He lives in High Point.

Moore, a Kinston native, is returning to the GTCC board of trustees with a reappointment from Guilford County, previously appointed by the governor.

He is the chief executive officer and general counsel of ABM Capital Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund. He attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. He later earned a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Virginia.

Moore is a licensed attorney in North Carolina, but the majority of his career has been in the capital markets side of investment banking.

“Continuing to serve the GTCC board of trustees is a privilege and a responsibility I’m honored to be a part of,” said Moore. “It’s an exciting time to be a part of the college’s continued growth and success in the community.”

Moore also serves on the board of trustees of the Greensboro Sports Council, Cone Health's Heart and Vascular Advisory Board, and Winston-Salem State University.
