NEW! Spanish For the Workplace

Reap the benefits from the skills of speaking Spanish in today's global economy!This introductory course will provide Non-Spanish speaking employers, employees and job seekers with survival skills. Students will learn to identify, minimize or eliminate barriers to effectively communicating in Spanish, while gaining an understanding between native spanish speakers and non-spanish speakers. This course will incorporate a variety of methods to address basic spanish commands, yes/no questions and simple phrases critical to effectively communicating the Spanish language with in the workplace environment.

Basic Spanish I

Basic Spanish I introduuces students to the fundamentals of the Spanish language in a supportive, interactive environment. Students will develop basic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while learning essential vocabulary, everyday expressions, and simple grammer. Emphasis is placed on practical communication for real-life situations, pronnouncation, and an introduction to Hispanic cultures. No prior knowledge  of spanish is required.

Basic Spanish II

Basic Spanish II builds on the skills developed in Basic Spanish I and is designed for students with a basic understanding of the language. Students will expand their vocabulary, strengthen grammar, and improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills through practical conversations and everyday situations. Emphasis is placed on increasing confidence in communcation while continuing to explore the Spanish culure. Completion of Basic Spanish I or equivalent experience is recommended.

The textbook is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein. It is available at the Jamestown Campus bookstores.

Spanish – Intermediate

This course is for those who have completed Spanish Beginners and want to increase their conversational skills and go to the next level of Spanish. The course emphasizes oral communication, reading of basic phrases, expressions, and grammar instruction to hold meaningful conversations.

The textbook the course uses is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein. It is available at the GTCC Greensboro and Jamestown Campus bookstores.

Spanish – Advanced

This course is designed for students who have already completed Beginners and/or Intermediate Spanish and want to continue their language-learning journey. It will deepen and extend the existing foundational knowledge of Spanish and its more complex grammatical components to hold meaningful conversations. Foundational knowledge of present tense verb use is essential.

The textbook that the course uses is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein.

Beginning Conversational Spanish (Online)

Designed for beginners, we will have you speaking and reading Spanish in no time. You will practice the basic building blocks of the language and common idiomatic expressions. You will know enough vocabulary and grammar for simple conversations and learn how to answer questions.

Whether you speak some Spanish and need a refresher or no Spanish at all, you will complete the course with the skills to communicate. This class is 100% online and is asynchronous with no specific class times. You may log in at your leisure.
