NC Auto Safety Certification

This course is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements (initial and/or renewal) for the Vehicle Safety Inspection Program administered by the NC Division of Motor Vehicles, License and Theft Bureau. Upon completion, a student will understand the rules, regulations, and procedures for conducting a vehicle safety inspection; be able to inspect a vehicle properly, and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam. Initial and recertification classes will be 8 hours of instruction. The registration fee includes the workbook used during class. Pre-registration is required. 

Required materials: LT-310 form signed by owner, partner, or officer of the inspection station must be brought to class.

Students who successfully complete the NC Auto Safety Certification class will have their LT-310 paperwork mailed into the DMV for certification.  

Requirements for Successful Completion:

  • Attendance: Must be in class 100% of class hours.
  • Pass Certification Exam with 80% or better.

Students will be dropped from the class if they miss the first day and will not be eligible for refund.

The college will make a 100% refund of registration fees if you officially withdraw from class before the first meeting.  Also if the class is canceled or full, GTCC will make a full refund. 

The college will refund 75% of the registration fee (of tuition only) if you officially withdraw from the class on the first day of class or before the class reaches the census date.  The census date varies from class to class.  Non-attendance is not a basis for a refund.
