GTCC employee Sybil Newman is also known as The Triad Soul Diva

Some of the music Sybil Newman performs spans generations of listeners. "That’s a testament to strong lyrics," said Sybil. "That in and of itself is a testament to the written word, to the written aspect of it, and the power of having solid lyrics that are not offensive but empowering."

Sybil Newman has worked at Guilford Technical Community College for more than 20 years. In her current position, she serves as College Advancement Officer, building relationships with people and organizations that want to donate to the college.

But this is not her first gig reaching people with a message. In her first career, she reached out with music.

Sybil, who went by just her first name, was a singer and performer from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. She even earned a gold record.
