Summer SkillUp Programs
GTCC Summer SkillUp Programs provide short-term training opportunities for individuals looking to strengthen their technical skills, meet continuing education requirements, or prepare for industry-related licensing exams. Course offerings include plumbing, HVAC, electrical, low voltage safety, EV charging systems, shower installation, water heater installation, and welding fundamentals.
These programs are designed for working professionals, contractors, and individuals interested in hands-on career training in skilled trades. Courses are offered on select dates in May and June 2026 and include options approved or designed to support licensing, safety awareness, and industry certification preparation.

An 8-hour low-voltage-qualified course focuses on electrical safety training for employees who work on systems rated at 600V or lower. This NFPA 70E-based course goes beyond the theoretical to give attendees a complete understanding of the rules and regulations governing electrical and arc-flash safety, and how to apply them in real-world situations.

Working on or above 600V to 72.5 kV industrial high voltage distribution systems requires qualification. In this training, attendees learn what it means to be HV-qualified and which electrical tasks may only be performed by a qualified person.

Welding & Fabrication Fundamentals

Upon completion, students will have the knowledge base to sit for various industry-specific certifications.

Fundamentals of Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems with SACA Certification

This hands-on summer course introduces students to the fundamentals of pneumatic and hydraulic systems used in modern industrial and manufacturing environments. Through extensive lab-based activities, students will learn how to safely identify, assemble, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic components and circuits.
Emphasis is placed on real-world applications using industry-standard equipment. Students will work directly with compressors, valves, actuators, pumps, cylinders, and fluid power control systems while developing critical problem-solving and technical skills.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance) industry-recognized certifications, validating their competency in fluid power systems and enhancing their readiness for careers in manufacturing, Mechatronics, automation, and industrial maintenance.
This course is ideal for students seeking a practical, skill-focused learning experience that aligns with current industry standards and workforce needs.
