JAMESTOWN, N.C. (June 1, 2023) – Cynthia Graves, who has been Guilford Technical Community College's coordinator of community education for more than two decades, has been named the college's director of career education and training.
"The college engaged in a national search to select a director of career education and training, and after completing that process, I'm so pleased that search led us back to Cynthia to serve in this critical position for the college and community," said Manuel Dudley, Ph.D., vice president, workforce and continuing education at GTCC. "She has been instrumental in expanding online and new workforce and continuing education (WCE) course offerings in the past year."
As GTCC's director of career education and training, Graves will be responsible for long-range needs related to occupational training, including planning and implementing effective marketing strategies for recruitment of new students and clients. She also will assist with determination of needed classes while overseeing budgetary operations of her division including proper implementation and management of each department's budget.
"I'm very excited and thankful for this new career opportunity," Graves said. "I started my journey here with GTCC in the workforce and continuing education division over 20 years ago focusing on personal, professional enrichment and entrepreneurial interest.
"In WCE we strive to provide quality programs and courses for those who want to create their own career pathways. In my new role, I will be able to continue on that journey to help guide others in their own career interests while reflecting on the three Ps: people, pathways, and partnerships."
Graves earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from North Carolina A&T State University and has collaborated with community organizations to promote workforce continuing education course offerings and career education and training opportunity pathways. She also recently completed a certificate in Google data analytics and represented GTCC on statewide committees.
