Guilford Technical Community College is pleased to offer a variety of foreign language classes. Whether you are interested in enhancing your skills or being able to start conversations speaking another language, GTCC has courses available for you.
Current Courses
NEW! - Basic Spanish
This course focuses on the development of communication language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. These four skills will help students immerse themselves and interact in a Spanish language context. Grammar will be taught through a communicative approach. Classroom activities will integrate the language skills mentioned above. Verbal practice, which will be carried out beyond the sentence level, will be emphasized. Use and understanding of basic grammatical terminology will also be a necessary component of the course.

Spanish - Beginners
This course is designed for students who have had some basic Spanish or beginner-level Spanish and want to improve their conversational skills. The course emphasizes oral communication, reading of basic phrases, expressions, and grammar instruction to hold meaningful conversations.
The textbook is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein. It is available at the Jamestown Campus bookstores.

Spanish - Intermediate
This course is for those who have completed Spanish Beginners and want to increase their conversational skills and go to the next level of Spanish. The course emphasizes oral communication, reading of basic phrases, expressions, and grammar instruction to hold meaningful conversations.
The textbook the course uses is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein. It is available at the GTCC Greensboro and Jamestown Campus bookstores.

Spanish - Advanced
This course is designed for students who have already completed Beginners and/or Intermediate Spanish and want to continue their language-learning journey. It will deepen and extend the existing foundational knowledge of Spanish and its more complex grammatical components to hold meaningful conversations. Foundational knowledge of present tense verb use is essential.
The textbook that the course uses is "Easy Spanish Step-by-Step" by Barbara Bregstein.

Beginning Conversational Spanish (Online)
Designed for beginners, we will have you speaking and reading Spanish in no time. You will practice the basic building blocks of the language and common idiomatic expressions. You will know enough vocabulary and grammar for simple conversations, and you will learn how to answer questions.
Whether you speak some Spanish and need a refresher or no Spanish at all, you will complete the course with the skills to communicate. This class is 100% online and is asynchronous with no specific class times. You may log in at your leisure.
