JAMESTOWN, N.C. (Jan. 23, 2024) – Guilford Technical Community College and Carolina Battery Institute (CBI) signed an affiliation agreement Monday to establish a workforce education program.

CBI is an industry-driven nonprofit with a mission to provide education, hands-on training, and workforce development to support future education efforts and workforce training for disadvantaged and underserved communities.

Leaders from GTCC and CBI will work together in the coming weeks to establish the parameters of the program and the workforce development opportunities for those in the Triad.

“We are excited about our partnership with CBI and Soelect. It is a great opportunity for us to impact workforce development within the electric battery manufacturing industry, and we are proud to partner with CBI to make amazing happen,” said GTCC President Anthony Clarke, Ph.D.

Jin Cho Ph.D., founder of CBI and the CEO of Soelect, an electric battery component manufacturer, emphasized that “supporting individuals and communities through a clean energy and advanced battery manufacturing workforce development will empower entrepreneurship, business growth, and a new career path to enhance people's quality of life. I am excited about working to help ensure that the Triad is a global center of excellence for electric vehicle and battery technology.”
